A fresh tattoo is an open wound — treat it well for the first few weeks and it will stay sharp for life. Always follow your artist's specific instructions first.
Leave the wrap on for 2–4 hours (or as long as your artist tells you). It protects the fresh ink from bacteria on the way home.
With clean hands, rinse gently in lukewarm water with fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel — never rub.
Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion or the balm we recommend, 2–3 times a day. Thin is better — the skin needs to breathe.
Wear loose clothing over the area, keep hands off it, and don't re-wrap unless your artist advised it. Let it settle naturally.
No scratching or picking scabs, no pools, sea or long baths, no direct sun or tanning, and no heavy sweaty workouts on fresh ink.
The surface heals in about 2–3 weeks; the skin fully settles over 2–3 months. Keep moisturising and use sunscreen once healed.
When to reach out. Spreading redness, heat, swelling, pus or a fever aren't normal healing. Message us straight away on WhatsApp, and see a doctor if symptoms get worse. This guide is general advice, not medical care.
